ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Karin Wälchli and Guido Reichlin began working together in 1995 in Zurich, since then they have produced a diverse oeuvre in a wide range of media. Since 2018 they live and work in Göschenen. Their observations of natural phenomena and investigations of scientific archives result in diverse and complex paintings and groups of work. Their numerous residencies in Cairo as well as a longer travel residency in India have enabled them to investigate and discover the power of ornamental manifestations in everyday life of urban landscapes. They are absolute masters in capturing the commonplace and transforming this into art. The name Chalet5 stands for the superior, the third element, which emerges out of the cooperation between two artists.
Karin Wälchli und Guido Reichlin begannen ihre Zusammenarbeit 1995 in Zürich, seither ist ein vielfältiges Werk in ganz unterschiedlichen Medien entstanden. Seit 2018 leben und arbeiten sie in Göschenen. Aus Beobachtungen von Phänomenen der Natur und Erforschungen von wissenschaftlichen Archiven entstehen vielschichtige und komplexe Malereien und Werkgruppen. Bei ihren zahlreichen Residenzaufenthalten in Kairo und bei einem längeren Reisestipendium in Indien untersuchten sie die Kraft von ornamentalen Manifestationen im Alltag urbaner Landschaften. Alltägliches zu transformieren und in Kunst überzuführen, beherrschen sie virtuos. Der Name Chalet5 steht für das Übergeordnete, Dritte, das aus der Zusammenarbeit von zwei Kunstschaffenden entsteht.
